Marian Blessing Makes Her Escape von E.L. Karhu
Marian Blessing wants to be free. When her son tries to put her in a nursing home, she resorts to extreme measures and shoots him. But what at first sounds like a tragedy soon unfolds into a story about a world where people are still allowed to believe in utopias. Together with her friends Dora Darling, a former dancer, and Ruth Desperado, a radicalized nurse, Marian envisions a society where people genuinely care for one another and the board game of life comes to a gentle end. Finnish author E. L. Karhu has written a zany text brimming with humor and anarchy. Somewhere between a liberation western and a utopian thought experiment, the play never loses sight of its core question: How does one maintain dignity in old age?
