How does it feel to be under constant observation? To avoid piercing gazes and always read the same questions in those faces? To have supposed curiosity reinforce a perpetual feeling of otherness? To be judged before any words have been exchanged? SUITS describes the futile attempt to blend in amidst a majority white society and uses dance to examine everyday life for People of Colour in Germany today. The interplay of longing to belong on the one hand and an explicit language of rejection on the other makes the daily confrontations with racism and the associated trauma, the mental and physical strain, accessible to the audience.

The entire dance ensemble will take to the stage for the new Urban Arts department’s first premiere performance in February.
