Swimmy Interaktives Tanztheater nach dem Bilderbuch von Leo Lionni
SwimmyInteraktives Tanztheater nach dem Bilderbuch von Leo Lionni
Somewhere in the big, wide ocean lives a school of small, happy, red fish. Only one of them has the dark colour of a mussel shell and also swims faster than his sisters and brothers – it’s Swimmy! One day, a fierce tuna comes along and gobbles up the entire school in one big gulp. Only Sammy manages to save himself. Sad and alone, he swims out into the big ocean. But he becomes ever more cheerful as he realises how many different and terrific creatures live out there! He encounters a jellyfish that shimmers in all the colours of the rainbow, swims through an enchanted seaweed forest and discovers sea anemones that sway gently, like palm trees in the wind. What happiness, then, when he finds a new school of little red fish! He welcomes his new sisters and brothers and tells them about the wonders of the ocean that he is eager to show them. But the school is scared of predatory fish and would rather stay hidden. Swimmy thinks hard about how he can help – and comes up with a brilliant idea! After all, he knows that they can achieve anything when they work together. In the end, the school has the courage to happily travel the big, wide ocean.
In this multimedia production, we’re inviting the public to get to know Swimmy and his world in the deep ocean and to join with him in turning the scared little fish into a confident, curious school.
Leo Lionni’s children’s classic about the smart little fish has been enthralling children all over the world for generations and was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in the storybook category back in 1965. The curious little fish shows us that we can overcome scary situations if we’re resourceful and stick together. The tale of this thrilling adventure through the ocean is told by two dancers and one actor, with Kama Frankl-Gross directing.

„Das ist wirklich kurzweilig und schön und respektiert auch den Bewegungsdrang von Vierjährigen. Also wirklich eine gelungene Version, ein Ausflug ins Theater Oberhausen wert.“ Christoph Ohrem, WDR5 Scala
