Collaborations and support

We see theatres as being vital to social connectedness, as places where we negotiate how we live together as a society. Theatres are pillars of our democracy and facilitators of community. Theatres are part of the cultural structure of our lives – along with other public cultural institutions, private sponsors, sociocultural centres, stakeholders in the independent scene, associations and clubs.

Theater Oberhausen has been maintaining all kinds of relationships with various stakeholders in Oberhausen, the region and beyond for decades. Within the city and region, this ranges from technical support for charitable events and co-produced projects at exciting venues through to engagement against discrimination at institutional level. We bring different perspectives and artistic forms to Oberhausen through national and international collaborations.  

We consider this part of our mission as the largest cultural institution in our city, and it also links in with how we see ourselves as Theater Oberhausen: we create theatre of the highest quality with everyone and for everyone in the region.

Frauen helfen Frauen Oberhausen e.V.
This association organises the women’s counselling centre and shelter in Oberhausen. Antrag auf größtmögliche Entfernung von Gewalt, an new piece from Felicia Zeller is the product of interviews with women living at the shelter.

Gleichstellungsstelle der Stadt Oberhausen
In keeping with our Women & Power focal theme, we will offer a supporting programme in collaboration with the Gender Equality Body of the city of Oberhausen.

Theater Oberhausen held the Festival New Stages Southeast together with the Goethe Institute.
