PottClash Festival
PottClash ist eine Hommage an die Vielfalt der urbanen Tanzkultur und lädt Tanzbegeisterte aus der ganzen Region ein. Tänzer:innen präsentieren ihre einzigartigen Fähigkeiten: Hip Hop, Breakdance, Popping, Locking, Krumping und viele andere Stile verschmelzen zu einem mitreißenden Spektakel. Die Tänzer:innen treten in Battles (1v1 oder in Crews) gegeneinander an – jeder Schritt, jede Drehung und jeder Ausdruck zählt, um in Freestyle-Improvisationen die Jury und
das Publikum zu beeindrucken. Neben technischen Fähigkeiten geht es um Kreativität, Ausdruck und Bühnenpräsenz.
Neben einer weiteren Vorstellung von SUITS freuen wir uns darauf, die Premiere von MC Messer, der neue Produktion des Urban Arts Ensemble Ruhr, die in Kooperation mit dem Theater Oberhausen entstanden ist, zu feiern.
Als Rahmenprogram wird es ein Netzwerktreffen, fünf Tanz-Workshops und eine große Party geben.

PottClash stands as a vibrant celebration of urban dance culture, welcoming enthusiasts from across rural areas to showcase the rich tapestry of dance styles. Participants bring to the stage their distinctive talents in Hip Hop, Breakdance, Popping, Locking, Krumping, and more, weaving together an electrifying showcase. The competition is fierce, with dancers facing off in various battles, both solo and in crews, where every move, spin, and expression is crucial to captivate the judges with their freestyle improvisations. Beyond technical prowess, creativity, expressiveness, and stage presence are key to making a mark.
We eagerly anticipate another riveting performance by SUITS and the debut of MC Messer, an exciting new venture from Urban Arts Ensemble Ruhr, developed in cooperation with Theater Oberhausen. The event is also set to feature a networking session, five dynamic dance workshops, and a grand party, enriching the experience for all attendees.
The new URBAN ARTS Section is promoted by the ministry for culture an science of the county north rhine-westphalia in the programme „NEUE WEGE“.

DANCE LABORATORY
At the PottClash Camp, young people between the ages of 14 and 19 have the opportunity to take part in workshops, to discover and learn the different urban dance styles. The workshops are taught by members of the urban arts ensemble. Together, the participants develope the concept for a show for the opening of the PottClash Festival.

At the network-meeting for urban dance, different dancers can meet up to engage in dialogue and networking. Topics are visions for the future and the challenge of getting urban dance on the big stage.

SUITS is an urban dance performance about the life of people of colour in Germany and about the daily confrontation with racism and violence. The first world premiere of the urban arts section can be seen in the Studio at the beginnig of PottClash-Weekend.

The Hip Hop Operetta MC Messer based on motives from the known Beggar’s Opera by John Gay is a cooperation of the urban arts section of Theater Oberhausen with the Urban Arts Ensemble Ruhr and will be shown for the first time at the PottClash-Festival.

POTTCLASH-BATTLE
At the core of the PottClash-Festival is the big dance battle on saturday. Dancers from Germany and beyond will compete in different dance styles against each other. There will be 1v1 Battles in Krump and Hip Hop and a 2v2 Battle in Mixed-Style. In each cathegory, the dancers may win a price money of 600 €. Afterwards there will be a session with DJ in the Bar.

At the PottClash-Junior-Battle on sunday, children and teenagers battle against each other in Breakdance 1v1, Hip Hop 1v1 and Mixed-Style 2v2. The reward for the winners in each cathegory are 100 €.
